Abstract: Sketch Engine is a service well-known within the corpus linguistics community but people usually don’t know that it provides a powerful API for advanced NLP of more than 90 languages. Whether you want to get wordlists, distributional thesaurus, collocations, sentence examples for full-text queries, ngrams, diachronic analysis or keyword (terminology) extraction, with Sketch Engine API it is matter of a short code and one or a few HTTP requests. And it is for free for academic purposes thanks to ELEXIS project. In the Lab, we will look into Sketch Engine API basics using Python language. We will try many API examples and learn how to work with the results.
