The Editorial Process

The editorial process of IJCol follows the international practices applied to pursue the highest scientific quality of the published work and to guarantee a rapid assessment process, according to the scheme of international peer-review.

This guarantees the authors, combining high quality and adequate speed of publication. Submission is managed through a dedicated web platform (URL: https://www.ai-lc.it/ijcolreview), which allows authors to submit their work in a continuous cycle throughout the year.

The submission cycle starts with the review phase (about two months) and continues with the revision phase, which allows to keep the publication cycle shorter than 6-7 months since the date of submission, even in the cases where major revisions are required.

IJCoL publishes papers Online First on average two weeks from final submission on the Accademia University Press website (URL: http://www.aaccademia.it/ita/scheda-libro?aaref=1539).

The Reviewing Process

The Editors of the Journal make a pre-screening of all submitted articles. Articles that fail to reach the scientific standards of the journal are desk-rejected. Those articles which satisfy the requirements are sent to expert reviewers and subsequently judged for acceptability for publication. The peer-review procedure involves two experts, or three in case of disagreement (which represents a rare event). IJCoL Editors avoid engaging reviewers who are close to – or have any sort of conflict with – a given author. Referees may request major or minor revision of the article. The final decision on acceptability is the Editors’ responsibility.

In specific cases, a meta-reviewer can be appointed by the Editors of the journal to create and oversee a team of reviewers in reviewing the paper, and in the end provides a meta-review summarizing the results of the review process.
